Hangouts

Calendar & weekly availability

Tell friends when you're free to hang, sync hangouts to your device calendar, and get pinged when your schedules line up.

Your calendar

The Calendar in the side menu brings your hangouts, availability, and saved events together in one place, day by day. Optionally sync your device calendar to see existing events alongside your plans; those events stay on your phone and are never uploaded.

Add hangouts to your device calendar

Turn on "Add hangouts to my calendar" in Settings → Security (on by default) to automatically add hangouts you accept or create to your device calendar. Edits stay in sync, and events are removed when you decline, leave, or a hangout is cancelled. You can still add a hangout manually from its detail page; the app won't create duplicates.

This is separate from reading your calendar for conflict warnings. Read keeps your existing events on the phone; write only adds Actually Hangout plans.

Setting availability

Pick the weekly times you're free to hang. Quick presets make it painless: all-day, every day this week, weekends, or repeat a slot for the next 2, 4, or 8 weeks. If you've synced your calendar, the app warns you when you mark yourself free during a busy time.

Public booking

You can share a public link so anyone (even without the app) can request time on slots you mark as publicly bookable. See the Public availability booking guide for how to turn it on, share your link, and handle guest requests.

Overlap matching

Here's the payoff: friends can see when your schedules overlap, and you get a ping when a friend is free at the same time as you. You can also view your overlap with a specific friend to find your next window.

The overlap notification is optional. Toggle "Friend availability overlap" in Settings → Notifications.
