Edit, cancel, or delete a Hangout
Plans change. Here's what the organizer can do, and what everyone else sees.
Who can make changes
Only the hangout's creator can edit the details, uninvite guests, remove collaborators, cancel, or delete. Collaborators contribute through planning (suggestions and voting) but can't change the core details.
Cancel vs delete
- Cancel marks the hangout as Cancelled for everyone. It stays visible so nobody shows up wondering where you are.
- Delete removes the hangout entirely. The app asks you to confirm first.
Statuses
Hangouts are Active, Cancelled, or Completed. Once a hangout's date passes or it's completed, it moves to the Past tab.
When details change, invitees get a Hangout updates notification, so keep that toggle on if you're attending things.
