Who can see what you share
There's no public feed. Everything you post goes to an audience you choose.
Actually Hangout has no public or global feed. Everything you share goes to friends, Friends of Friends if you allow it, or a Group. Here's how each audience works.
Post audiences
- Every Feeler, PinDrop, or Open Invite is shared with all friends, specific Friend Tags, or a Group, plus a per-post Friends of Friends toggle.
- Moods are friends-only: everyone or specific tags. No Group option.
- PinDrops never reach Friends of Friends, no matter the toggle.
Hide my posts
You can hide your default posts, moods, and availability from a specific friend without unfriending or blocking them. On People → Friends, swipe to Exclude (or Show to reverse it). They stay your friend, but won't see those updates unless you include them with a Friend Tag on a specific post. See Hide my posts for the full guide.
Friends of Friends
Two master switches in Settings → Social Permissions control FoF entirely: "Share Posts with Friends of Friends" and "See FoF Posts." FoF posts are labeled in the feed, so you always know when you're seeing one.
Hangouts and share links
Hangouts are either Invite only (visible to the organizer, collaborators, and invitees) or Public link (anyone with the link can open it, even without the app).
You can also create a public share link for a Feeler, PinDrop, or Open Invite. Anyone can open it, even without the app. Links are revocable anytime from the post's menu; a revoked link shows "Link unavailable."
Your profile is visible to anyone signed in to the app, but your posts only ever show to the audiences you chose.
